Tips for content creators to enhance IG Reels

Februari, 2025

When looking for ways to enhance your Instagram Reels or grow on Instagram, we often hear tips like “post every day” and “make sure your video is of good quality.”

Keep it 9:16

According to the team behind the social media marketing and management tool “Hootsuite,” the perfect ratio for an Instagram Reels is 9:16. Instagram has confirmed this. They examine the pixels of a Reel before deciding which ones to prioritize. This approach ensures users have the best experience while browsing Reels on their phones. Using a different ratio can result in Reels looking unflattering and pixelated.

What did you say?

One often overlooked but effective enhancement for Instagram Reels is the use of subtitles. Subtitles not only promote inclusion for individuals with hearing loss or those who are deaf, but they also appeal to the many users who scroll through Instagram Reels with the sound off. Despite Instagram being primarily a visual platform, many users view content in public settings where they can’t listen to the audio. According to research by Verizon Media and Publicis Media, 69% of people watch Instagram Reels on mute in public, and 25% keep their phones muted even at home. The study also found that 80% of respondents were more likely to watch an entire video if it included subtitles.

Reposting sadly doesn’t help

TikToks are often reposted as Instagram Reels, but this strategy is less effective if the video contains a watermark. According to Instagram, content that clearly appears to have been created for another platform, such as a TikTok with a watermark, will be deprioritized and may reach fewer people.

Please don’t stop the music

Music can be a bit tricky. Many people search for and create content featuring viral songs. If your target audience engages with these popular tracks, incorporating them into your content can help you reach them. Instagram has stated that they prioritize content that uses music from their original library.

When selecting music, it is crucial to consider its popularity. If a sound has been used 3 million times, your Reels are likely to get lost among countless others. On the other hand, if a sound has been used only 5 times, it may not attract interest. The key is to find a balance, such as a sound used around 40,000 times. This indicates that the sound is popular but not so overused that your Reels will be lost in the crowd.

Looping through Instagram

A clever tip to boost engagement is creating a video with a seamless loop. In such Reels, the transition between the end and the beginning flows smoothly, making it difficult for viewers to notice when the video ends. As a result, people are more likely to watch the Reels multiple times without realizing it. While this technique is a bit unconventional, it can effectively increase the number of views from a single viewer.

In summary, there are many ways to optimize your Instagram Reels, and these five tips are a great start. We hope they help you enhance your Reels and captivate your audience.
